Rajasthan the ‘land of kings’ is situated in the north-west part of India. It is bordered by Punjab to the north, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to the north-east, Madhya Pradesh to the south-east and Gujarat to the south-west.
This state is home to some of the fascinating forests in India mainly in its eastern part of the state. Wide variety of flora and fauna are available in these forest range. The Keoladeo National Park near Bharatpur is known for its birds sanctuary and is a World Heritage Site.
Rajasthan is also home to three national tiger reserves, the Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur, Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar and Mukundra Hill Tiger Reserve in Kota.
This place has attracted travellers for its forts, colourful lifestyle of people and desert adventure. But travellers also reach this state in great numbers for its bio diversity and has become a famous destination for Eco-Tourism. Thus this state provides a wide choice to traveller interested in flora and fauna.
Ranthambhore
Ranthambhore National Park is situated in the south-eastern part of Rajasthan in Sawai Madhopur district. Situated amongst Aravali hills and Vindhya plateau, this National Park spreads over an area of 392 square kilometres. Filled with dry deciduous forest and vegetation, this National Park serves as a natural habitat for Royal Bengal Tigers. This forests is also home to many other carnivorous and herbivorous animals.
This forests served as former hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur, this National Park is a part of “Project Tiger” and is the most popular tourist destination for wild life lovers and photographers across the world. There are many water bodies located all over the park, that provide relief during the extremely hot summer months and is a perfect place to spot wild animals.
This National Park also posses heritage sites like the Ranthambore Fort, Ancient temples Rajbagh ruins and Jogi Mahal that are the reminders of glory and valour of the Rulers of Ranthambore. Surronded by Chambal and Banas river this National Park is home to a large species of flora and fauna. The bio-diversity and the natural ambience makes it a perfect place to enjoy the wild India.
By Air: The nearest Airport for Ranthambhore National Park is Jaipur and this airport is well connected from all parts of India. Ranthambhore is about 165 kilometres away from Jaipur and local rented taxis are readily available.
By Rail: Sawai Madhopur Station is the nearest train station that is well connected to other parts of India. Ranthambhore is about 10 kilometres and hired taxis are available from station.
By Road: Ranthambhore National Park is well connected by road to all the nearby cities. One can reach Ranthambhore from places like Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Kota etc. The roads are good and travel time depends upon distance from origin.
Ranthambhore Heritage Haveli: The building is very beautiful and well done and they have about well designed rooms with all the amenities. Staff is attentive, and will really do their utmost to see you happy. Lawn is beautiful along with pool area and they have buffet with spread of variety of food items. The approach road to the hotel is bumpy. They also provide safari booking.
Vatika Resort: This resort has well appointed rooms with all the amenities. The lawn is great and they maintain good quality of cleanliness around. Staff is helpful and food is superb. They also provide bookings for Safari. Very close to forest and market place.
Regenta Resort Vanya Mahal: This is a palatial hotel, located on the Ranthambhore road with a good palace like look. Well maintained property along with friendly staff. The rooms are luxurious and extremely comfortable having all the amenities. The staff are ever ready to help and took take care of all our needs. They provide safari bookings as well.
Hotel Sanctuary Resort: This resort is located near to the forest and has Clean and specious rooms with friendly staff. Food is good and lawn in the front is well maintained. Rooftop restaurant is a pleasant. They also provide bookings for Safari.
Ranthambore National Park remains open for visitors from 1st October to 30th June.
Safari are organised, administered and managed by the forest officials of the Ranthambore National Park. Safaris are organised by Jeeps(6 Seater) and Canter (20 seater).
The forest is divided into 10 Zones and safaris are organised for each zones.
Safari trips are organised by the forest department for the benefit of travellers. Open Jeeps with groups of tourists, individuals accompanied by naturalist are allowed into the park at fixed timings. There are two shifts the Morning Shift and the Afternoon Shift.
