Inclusions and Exclusions
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved that the following sports will be added to Olympic Games 2024 that was not present in the 2020 Olympic Games.
Breaking, which means Break-Dancing will be the new inclusion to the games. Karate and Baseball/Softball have been removed from the Olympics 2024 Games.
Olympics Mascots
On November 14, 2022, the official mascot for Olympics 2024 was unveiled. The mascot was not a fictional creature or animal, rather it’s an object. The Phrygian cap is the official mascot for the Olympics 2024, that represents a strong symbol of the French Republic. It often represents the symbol of freedom.
The Phrygian cap is a gentle and soft red hat worn by freed slaves of Phrygia. The Paralympic mascot is different, in that one of the legs is a runner’s blade. One of the mascot’s eyes is blue, and one of the two is draped in two ribbons in the colours of the French flag, in the style of a cockade, or knot of ribbons, which was another symbol of republicanism during the Revolution.
The mascots were selected to help bring sports into the life of everybody. The Phrygian cap is A symbol of revolutions, the French Republic, and freedom, the Phrygian cap can be seen on the French national icon Marianne, depicted in busts at town halls across the country as well as on stamps, and is also covered in the national curriculum in schools.
