Police were informed about this kidnapping. They put all the phones of the family members on surveillance. Four days later, a phone call was received for ransom. A huge sum of about 100 crores was demanded from the businessman as ransom amount. Though the businessman was quite affluent such a ransom amount was beyond their capability.
They informed police about the ransom call. The next day another call was received from kidnappers, and this continued for few more days. The kidnappers were negotiating the ransom amount.
Each ransom call was made from different numbers and from different locations. So the police were not able to track down the call. After each ransom call police use to call, that number but didn’t receive any response.
A total of 18 calls were made by kidnappers for negotiating the ransom amount, but the police were still in the dark as they were not able to track the number. Police were confirmed that this kidnapping was done with full planning.
Family members were getting worried about their son’s well being as almost 15 days had passed. In the meantime, during the calls, the ransom amount was negotiated and the amount that was agreed about came to about 20 crores.

Police were not able to do much, and the businessman family was worried about the well being of their son, so they decided to obey kidnappers’ commands. Police also thought that let the son reach home alive safely than they could investigate further.
After paying the ransom amount in Chapra the businessman was informed about his son’s location in Patna. On reaching the pre-determined location in Patna they found their son, Sohail tied up and alive.
The family returned to Surat along with his son. Once Sohail was declared medically fit, police started their investigation again, as the criminals were still at large and no one was yet apprehended.
