Chapter 1
This creepy story is about a sweet doll believed to be controlled by demonic spirits. Annabelle the doll, that had made her presence felt in different places, attacking and killing people who disrespected her.
This doll is still present in Warren Museum located at 30, Knoll wood street, Monroe in Connecticut USA secured in a case protected by holy water, with a clear warning written on that case not to open it.
In the middle of the 1960s, an American writer found a cute little doll in his backyard. He assumed that some playful child must have forgotten her doll while playing. So he inquired about the doll with his neighbours.
His neighbours confirmed that the doll does not belong to them. He then gave the doll to his daughter Marshella for playing. Marshella was a sweet girl about 12 years old, and she was mesmerised by the beauty of the doll.
Chapter 2
She played with the doll during the day and slept with the doll beside her during the night. She was in love with her doll and spent most of her time with her. Her parents were happy that their daughter was feeling happy with her doll.
A few years later, one day it so happened, that Marshella was not able to find her doll. She and her parents searched their entire house but could not locate that doll. That doll had disappeared the same way it had appeared.
Marshella was left heartbroken. A year later, she suffered from illness and died at the age of 13. Her father wrote a book about the doll named “Annabelle” and its mysterious appearance with the photo of that doll on its cover page.
He also explained in that book the behaviour of the doll and its close attachment with her daughter. The book became popular, and the people for the first time became aware of such a doll.
Chapter 3
A few years later, in the 1970s, a mother looking for a present for her daughter birthday was passing by an antique shop. Many dolls were displayed on the shelve, she walked into the shop and selected this cute doll that looked very mesmerising.
Her daughter Donna was 28 years old Nursing student. She was filled with joy in receiving this sweet doll as her birthday gift from her mother. She stayed in her hostel along with her roommate Angie.
After her birthday celebration, Donna brought the doll to her room in her hostel. A few days later, she observes strange behaviour in the doll. It seemed to her that Anabelle is watching her, and trying to communicate. Initially, she ignored this behaviour thinking, that her mind may be playing tricks.
Donna found that the doll would not be in the place where she had left her before leaving for college. If she left the doll in her bed, the doll was found to be in her chair when she returned. If she had left the doll on her table, the doll would be found lying on her bed when she returned.
Chapter 4
On one occasion, Donna left Annabelle on the couch, only to find her doll in her bed behind the closed door. Donna mentioned this to her friend Lou, who didn’t like that doll at the first glance, and advised Donna to get rid of her. But Donna didn’t want to part with the doll hence, she didn’t pay any attention to Lou’s advice.
One day Donna returned to her room only to find some paper notes written in a child’s handwriting mentioning “Help Us” and “Help Lou”. She started believing that the doll indeed moves by itself.
To prove her point, she left the doll at the table situated at a corner of the room and memorised the place she had left that doll. To her surprise, she found her outside her locked room upon arrival.
One day something strange was observed by Donna as she returned from her college. She observed, that there was blood in the chest and at the back of the doll. As she was a nursing student, she identified the blood was real and not due to any colouring agent.
Chapter 5
Donnas’ friend Lou was not in favour of Annabelle residing with Donna, one day he was passing near Donnas’ room when he heard Donna shouting and seeking help. He hurriedly went inside only to find the doll in the room and not Donna.
Meanwhile, Donna and Angie were returning to their room after college, and they heard Lou shouting from Donnas’ room. They found Lou was stabbed, at least seven times, his shirt was filled with blood.
Lou was provided first aid, and he confirmed that it was the doll, which attacked and stabbed him. To everyone’s surprise, the stab wounds disappeared from Lou’s body within a couple of days.
Donna was frightened after this incident for the first time. She contacted a priest of a local church to explain all that had happened. The priest concludes that there must be some demonic spirit associated with that doll, and advises Donna to contact the Bishop of a higher church.
Chapter 6
Bishop of higher church advises Donna to get in touch with Edward Warren and Loren Warren, experts in paranormal activities. Edward and Loren Warren was husband-wife having a good reputation for solving paranormal activities in America during that period.
Based on Donnas’ request, the couple reached their hostel and questions all her friends and start their investigation. They stayed at the hostel for a week studying the behaviour of the doll with their instruments.
A week later they concluded that the doll is possessed by a demonic spirit in search of a human body. The doll likes Donna very much and is waiting to possess her body by killing her within weeks. This revelation scared Donna.
Edward and Loren Warren decide to take the doll with them for conducting some more experiments at their place. While driving back to their place with the doll, Warren’s observed that the car would serve from side to side and the brake and clutch of the car stopped working.
Chapter 7
Warren’s understood that the sudden abnormality in their car was due to the presence of the doll, they somehow managed to stop their car and crossed the doll with holy water bringing things back to normal.
At Warren’s house, the doll continued changing its position sometimes even elevating from the chair to Warren’s desk. One day the Father of the church reached Warren’s house to see the doll, he lifted the doll and said “You are just a rugged doll, and you can’t hurt anyone”, and throw the doll back in the chair.
Warren cautioned Father to be extra careful while driving home and call him back after he reaches. A couple of hours later he receives a call from Father he had met with an accident after the brakes of his car failed.
They constructed a special chamber and sprinkled it with holy water, and placed the doll inside that chamber inside their museum with the warning that no one is allowed to open the door of the chamber.
Chapter 8
A few years later, when Annabelle doll became popular through writings and books, a young couple visits the museum to see this doll. The boy was making fun of the doll saying “You are just a doll and do not possess any powers. They were laughing among themselves in front of the doll.
After their visit, the couple decided to leave the museum on their bike. The bike served to and fro on the road during their return with their brakes disabled eventually hitting a tree.
The boy died instantaneously after the accident, and the girl barely survived after undergoing treatment for over a month. Warren’s met the girl after her discharge from the hospital. She told them that her boyfriend was making fun of the doll and challenging her.
Warrens concluded that this accident was initiated by the demon-possessed doll and it is still very much alive and active inside her. The boy would be leading a healthy life had he not made fun of the doll.
Many visitors visit the Warren museum to catch a glimpse of Annabelle the doll, but they do not try to make fun of that doll based on past experiences.
