Chapter 1
This is a true story of a legendary actor James Dean’s car. A cursed car that is responsible for injuring or killing many people who bought the car or any part of it. The car is also known by the name of little bastard.
Jean Byron Dean, born on Feb 8, 1931, was an American actor and a cultural icon remembered for his legendary acting in Rebel without a Cause, Ioner, East of Eden. A sudden car crash resulted in his death in 1955 at an age of 24 years, he later received the best actor academy award for East of Eden posthumously.
James Dean loved fast cars and loved to display his driving skills. He took part in car races. On the evening of 23 Sep 1955, Dean invited his friend Alec Guinness a British actor, to see his newly bought car, a silver-colored Spyder 550 nicknamed ‘Little Bastard’.
Alec felt strange on viewing the car and commented that “I am sure, you are going to die if you drive this car by next week, to which James Dean laughed. A week later, on 30th Sep 1955, James dean was driving his Porsche in Salinas California, and suddenly a car pulled in front of him.
James was unable to react quickly to pull off the brakes and eventually crashed into the car. The accident was so fatal, that it killed James instantly. The entire world, especially the film fraternity, was shocked to hear about the death of the famous actor.
Chapter 2
The mystery of the car popularly known as Little Bastard had just begun. This was an exquisite car and after the accident, the mangled wreck of the car was bought by the Hollywood car designer George Harris.
George purchased the car for 2500 $, and he intended to sell the good workable parts of the car and make money from it. The day car arrived at George’s garage, it accidentally hit one of his garage mechanics and broke his leg.
Troy McHenry a young doctor, bought the engine of Little Bastard car and replaced his racing car’s engine with the purchased engine. One day on 22nd October 1956, he participated in a race organized at Pomona Fair Ground in California.
During the race, McHenry suddenly lost control of his car. The car hit a tree killing him instantly. Another young doctor Dr. William Eschrid, an enthusiast of fast cars, also purchased a part from Little Bastard.
Chapter 3
One day while driving at high speed he lost control of his car and crashed seriously injuring himself. Another young man purchased two tires of Little Bastard, one day while driving both of the tires burst at the same time, and the driver almost got killed.
On receiving the reports of such accidents George Harris decided not to sell the remaining parts of the car to anyone else. He realized that something was drastically wrong with this car. He gave the remaining wreck of the car to the California Highway Patrol for display, as a part of the exhibition making aware the citizens of over speed driving.
A few days later, the garage where the wreck of the Porsche was parked suddenly caught fire, and all the cars present inside the garage were destroyed except the Little Bastard. The car was then taken to an exhibition in Sacramento California.
Chapter 4
One day that car fell from the place of exhibition seriously injuring visitors. After this unlucky series of events, it was decided to transfer the car to another part of California. During the transportation of the car, the driver of the car was thrown off the vehicle seat losing control, and the cursed car fell on the driver killing him instantly.
The bizarre incidents and mysterious accidents in the car occurred till 1960. The little bastard finally disappeared, not to be visible anywhere. Probably stolen by someone unaware of the curse or who didn’t believe in Curses. It is also uncertain how many of its parts are presently in circulation.
The mystery surrounding the car still prevails as there were no reasonable explanations about the incidents that happened with the car. Was the series of incidents that happened, a mere coincidence or does the car, possessed some evil spirit or was it cursed remains a mystery?
